Connections
This constantly updated section gathers public and private projects and platforms that, at various levels, can serve as useful tools for information, updates, and consultation for Lucanians around the world.
Antenati Portal
The Antenati Portal, in line with other portals dedicated to genealogical research and family history in many countries, was created to make available online the vast documentary heritage of civil status and genealogical records—specifically civil records, conscription lists, and military registers—stored in Italian State Archives. This is essential for conducting family history research and is also of great interest for historical, genealogical, demographic research, and social sciences. The digitization and publication of this extensive documentation in the Antenati Portal is made possible by the agreement signed in June 2011 and renewed between the Directorate General of Archives of the Ministry of Culture and Family Search, Genealogical Society of Utah.
CISEI
CISEI (International Center for Studies on Italian Emigration) in Genoa is a research and documentation center that collects and studies the history of Italian emigration through documents, images, and testimonies. Its mission is to preserve the memory of the millions of Italians who emigrated between the 19th and 20th centuries and to promote research on migration in collaboration with international institutions.
A fundamental tool of CISEI is its database, a digital platform that gathers detailed information on migrants, such as names, places of birth, migration routes, and transportation methods used, with access to digitized original documents. Continuously updated through international partnerships, the database is available online and is a valuable resource for descendants, researchers, and scholars of Italian migration.
ITALEA
ITALEA is an initiative of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs aimed at strengthening the bond between Italy and Italian communities abroad, promoting the Italian language and culture worldwide. The project seeks to create a global network that fosters the spread of Italian values and traditions, supporting cultural and economic collaboration with foreign countries.
Through ITALEA, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs aims to consolidate Italian identity among generations of Italians abroad and promote Italian heritage as a shared asset, enhancing Italian art, history, and language within international communities.
